These answers describe how Still works and how QR codes behave in general. The same text is on this page and in the FAQ data for search and answer engines.
A fixed code does not expire. The web address is in the pattern, with no trial and no account. An editable code also has no trial period. It keeps working while this site is online, and you can change the destination whenever you want.
Those tools put their own short link in the pattern. The short link lives on their website, and they can turn it off when a trial ends. The square still scans. It just no longer has anywhere to go.
A static code stores the destination address. A dynamic code stores a short link that redirects to the destination. The redirect can be edited, measured, or switched off. A static code cannot be edited later, and it also cannot be switched off by the tool that made it.
A fixed code cannot be changed, because the address is part of the pattern. An editable code can. The pattern stores a short link on this site, and you change the address that short link opens. The printed squares stay the same.
Medium is enough for a screen and a clean print. Quartile or High is the better choice when the code will be small, folded, or outdoors. Higher tolerance makes a denser pattern. Low is for a short address that will stay crisp.
Download SVG for a print shop or any size of print, because it stays sharp when enlarged. Download PNG at 1024 pixels for most uses, or 2048 pixels for a poster. A sheet of several codes exports at up to 640 pixels per code.
Black modules on a white background scan most reliably. A dark ink on a light paper can work. Low contrast, a photograph behind the code, or inverted colors often fail in phone cameras.
No account is created. A fixed code is drawn in the browser and the destination is not stored. An editable code stores the destination on this site so the short link can be changed, and it counts scans of that short link.
